about

Big Blue Dervish is a kind of nonsense song. Or maybe it is a sort of chant that is to be repeated over and over to invoke a mystical vision, hence our seeing of “messiahs strolling”? Yet, even with the appearance of multiple messiahs, we feel compelled to dance through our own ecstasy, rather than the versions they offer.

lyrics

Big Blue Dervish

We look to the waves
And watch the sun descending
Behind the waves
Behind the churning ocean
Throwing its waves upon the big black coast
Look how this world is, moving

We look to the sky
The stars blink with envy
Down from the sky
Upon our spinning world
Whirling around like a big blue dervish
Look how is world is, moving

We look to sky, we look to our feet
Tapping out toes to the celestial beat
We look to sky, we look to our feet
Tapping out toes to the celestial beat
Tap ‘em!

We look to the waves
And we see messiahs strolling
Over the waves, not a care in the world
We smile a smile
And just dance to the music
Look how is world is, moving
